HOPE

HOPE

Hope is so powerful.  The thought that something is possible and better yet the idea that something is going to happen.  Unfortunately in the english language we use hope a synonym for wish but the Bible does not define hope this way, and honestly we don't live that way.  When is the last time you felt hope but really didn't think something was going to happen or really was possible to happen.

So last weekend I am at a leaders meeting with some of our students.  We have a time called the Hot Seat as created by Chris Newkirk.  This is a time where we select one student at a time to sit in the middle of  circle and anyone can encourage that student in anyway that they want.  Well after having all of our senior leaders go through the hot seat then anarchy occurred.  The seniors attacked me and said that I had to go through the hot seat.

One student said something that really stuck with me and made me think about how I do ministry. She said, "I know that you love us so much and you always give me hope.  Whenever I think I can't so something or God can't use me you make me and all of us believe that we can.  You have no idea how much that has meant to me."  WOW!

But the question then came to my mind is that true for all the students feel that way?  Do I give them hope?  I wrote a while back about how I believe that our words impact what people think of themselves, their thoughts about their relationship with Christ, and ultimately the way that they live.  All I can do about that is control my words and actions.  So do i communicate to the students that pastor and the students that I preach to at other event a message of hope.  That they leave believing it is possible; highly possible to live like Christ.  Peter talked about this in I Peter 3:14-15.  He said don't be afraid of those who try to intimidate you; sanctify Christ as Lord and be ready to give a defense of the hope that you have.  Make Christ first and tell people about your hope!  It seems like sometimes instead we give people apologetics, our rules, our morals, our church, instead of Christ our Lord and the Hope that comes with Him.

SO this week nd hopefully the rest of my life I want to share the Hope I have in Christ and also pass that hope onto every leader and student that is apart of any ministry I do.  Thanks breakfast club for the love and making me better.

To me, when I am hopeful it is a feeling of confidence and expectation. Yes. You give me hope. When I talk to you it is obvious that you help me believe in myself through God so much more. I find hope in the Lord through you. It may sound cheesy... but you have encouraged me a whole lot. Love you daryl.
